Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS)

Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS)

Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) support students in special education whose social, emotional, or behavioral needs affect their ability to access and benefit from their education. Services are individualized through the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and may include individual counseling, social work services, consultation, and coordination with families and school staff. The need for ERMHS is determined through assessment and the IEP team process.

At the Colusa County Office of Education, our ERMHS clinicians work collaboratively with students, families, and educational teams to support students’ mental wellness and educational progress. Mental Health Clinicians, with the direct support and clinical supervision of our Mental Health Coordinators, aim to provide effective, ethical, and student-centered care.

Interested in learning more? Families can contact their child’s IEP case manager or school’s special education team to discuss concerns and whether an ERMHS assessment may be appropriate.
