Wildland Fire Academy

An entry-level course offered in partnership with CALFIRE to prepare students for a career in the public service industry sector

The Academy provides:

  • Entry-level employment training
  • Fire Service Certifications
  • Eligibility to apply for CALFIRE Basic Firefighter
  • NWCG S-190, S-130, L-180, ICS-100
  • Emergency Care Provider CPR Certificate D.O.T.
  • First Responder EMS Certification
  • High School credits may be applied to graduation (contact your high school counselor to verify)

Important Dates:
October 2, 2020 - Applications Due
October 16, 2020 - Selected Candidates will be notified
November 14, 2020 at 12:30pm - Mandatory CASAS Testing
November 14, 2020 3:00pm-5:00pm - Mandatory Orientation for selected Cadets.
January 8, 2020 - April 18, 2020 - Academy in session

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What certificates will I receive? 
S-130, S-131, S-190, L-180, ICS 100, CPR/First Aid, Hazmat FRO & Decon, Confined Space Awareness, Firefighter Structural Safety & Survival, CALFIRE Basic Firefighter.
2. When do I need to schedule my screening test?               
The coordinator will contact you with a time and date after all the applications have been received.    
3. What if I cannot get my physical before the application deadline? 
Provide a doctor's note with the date of your physical.                        
4. Are all classes mandatory if I already have some of the certificates?
